In this shoot i am planning on walking along the River Stort, from the Hungry Horse pub down the Maymeads Marsh Nature Reserve, in order to capture The Journey that is made along the rivers in boats, and the woodland path that is alongside the river. I aim to capture the physical journey that people can make by the river on foot and on the river in boats.
What I Achieved
I succeeded in my goal of capturing the boats, marine and the surrounding woodland area. This image is representing both the journey made on the water and on land. The bridge is representing the journey made on land as it is used for people to cross over from the pub to continue onto the woodland walk down to the nature reserve. It also captures the marine behind the bridge which is used for people to store their boats and/or live there on them. This is captures the location of boats before or after they make their journey. The camera settings for this image was an aperture F-stop of 9, the ISO was 100 and the shutter speed was 1/160. As it was a bright day the shutter speed did not need to be long as there was a large amount of natural light in the image, especially as the sun was behind me and shining onto the marine area. I also like the fact that i have captured the two willow trees in their spring state where they are a nice orangey shade about to go green.
This image captures the journey on land as it is showing the worn down path where there is no plantation growing, as it has been used as a footpath for many years. This shows the route for walkers to use for them to go down and reach the nature reserve. The camera settings for this image was an aperture F-stop of 6.3, the ISO was 100 and the shutter speed was 1/50/. The natural light of the sun was to the right hand side of the camera and so a longer shutter speed time was required especially as there was some shade created from other surrounding trees. This is the style of image that i wanted to achieve as i wanted to show the path through the trees as i like the effect that is has, because even though it is not an actual built path it is still clearly a path. I also like that the time of year has made all the trees and bushes a bright green colour instead of the brown/orange shades which can be seen throughout the autumn months.
What I Am Going To Do Next
Whilst walking through the woodland area, i became interested in looking at the journey that nature goes through throughout its lifecycle. In my next shoot i am planning on going to a forest in order to see the different state of different trees and areas of the forest as their lifecycle develops.
